By virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 39, Zamboanga, the land of the flowers, was declared a city. A city known for spots like Fort Pilar and Pasonanca Park, the city’s dwellers speak a mix of Spanish and the native language called Zamboangeno Chavacano.
The presence of the Spaniards for 3 centuries led to the development of the dialect. The Chavacanos culture and lifestyle is also greatly influenced by the Spaniards.
