TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

Lt. Gen. Robert Eichelberger, Commanding General of the US Eight Army, through the order of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, led the landing of 8000 men of the 11th Airborne Division in Nasugbu Beach.

This historic landing became the turning point in the war against the Japanese forces. The American force was able to liberate Nasugbu almost unopposed as the enemies retreated at the site of hundreds of ships landing on the strip. This landing together by the forces which landed from the North in Lingayen and Zambales served as the catalyst to the eventual liberation of Manila.
