TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY:
Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III, affectionately called “Noynoy”, the son of former President Corazon C. Aguino and the late Senator Benigno Aquino, was proclaimed president at Rizal Park in Manila. Noynoy won the May 10 2010 presidential elections. Aquino was sworn into office as the fifteenth President of the Philippines, succeeding Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines Conchita Carpio-Morales.
Jejomar Binay, the former mayor of Makati City, won as the countries Vice President. On the same election, Former President Gloria Arroyo, was elected congresswoman for the second district of Pampanga. This was the first computerized national elections in Philippine history.
