TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY
Mt. Taal, one of the Philippines’ most active volcanoes, erupted. Records show that on that day, 26 earthquakes were recorded in the Manila Observatory. This marks the start of one of the most devastating eruptions of the volcano.
The eruption left at least 1335 dead and 199 injured. Seven barangays on the island volcano were wiped out while several other nearby barangays lost their vegetation, live stock and homes.
