TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

The father of Pampanga literature, Juan Crisostomo Soto, was born. Using the pen name of Crissot, he is a journalist, poet and playwright.

One of his most famous works is the “sarsuwela” Alang Dios (There is no God). He joined the Katipunan in 1896 Revolution and participated in battles against the American troops in 1898. He died on July 12, 1918 at the age of 51.
