TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY:
The Filipinos took the oath of allegiance to King George III of England, as part of their duties as British Subjects when England invaded and captured the Philippines from Spain.
In 1762, Great Britain, as part of their campaign against Spain, attacks key Spanish cities, Havana in the West Indies and Manila in the Philippines. Brigadier General William Draper and Real Admiral Samuel Cornish led the British Army from Madras into Manila Bay on September 26, 1762. Manila, and the Philippines as a whole was given back to Spain in 1765. The British Occupation of the Philippines lasted for 18 months.
