TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY:
Manila was reinstated by Marcos as the capital of the Philippines for its historical significance as the seat of government since time immemorial. Presidential Decree No. 940 states that Manila has always been to the Filipino people and in the eyes of the world, the premier city of the Philippines being the center of trade, commerce, education and culture.
The decree further explains that Manila from time immemorial has been the seat of the National, a popular site of international meetings and conferences and it has modern transportation, communication, and accommodation facilities and all other physical attributes of a modern city.
