Today in Philippine History
The first Protestant church, the Central Methodist Episcopal Church, was founded during the American occupation. It was named Central Methodist Episcopal Church, but was eventually called Central United Methodist Church (CUMC).
The CUMC is one of the two churches (the other one is the Knox United Methodist Church) which emerged as a result of Filipino-American ties during the surrender of manila in 1898.
