#SALAWIKAIN: “Ang naglalakad ng matulin, kung matinik ay malalim”
Similar to the English proverb “More haste, less speed”.
“This salawikain tells of how being hasty could be unwise. This encourages the benefit of thinking before acting as this would always result to wiser decisions.
The cartoon shows a girl who was in a hurry to buy a bag that she likes even at the full price. Had she been wiser, and took it a bit slower, and bought the bag a week after, she would have bought it for cheaper. ”
The salawikain may speak of taking things slowly but it also reminds of being wise. As it is good to take things slowly, it may also have some consequence if not done wisely. In the case of our cartoon, if the girl took too much time, the bag may be cheaper, but the stocks maybe low and so she might miss buying it altogether.
Taking too slow will also have consequences and so it is the strive for a good balance that makes decisions tricky. The advantages of taking things slow and wise is quite obvious and anyone can benefit from it. The hard part would be keeping a good balance when it comes to pace and wisdom.
