Three years ago, Wellington started the Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament held on Queen’s Birthday weekend for the Wellington region which includes the whole of Wellington city from Island Bay right up to Palmerston North and Wairarapa. The coverage also includes the Filipino community in Kapiti, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Porirua, Johnsonville and Tawa.
While the Inter-Barangay Basketball is now well – established yearly event, there will also be a Pinoy Market ATBP!!!!!
For its launching project, Pinoy Market is intending to hold its first for the community groups fundraising project open to different organisations, business and/or individuals .
The aims of Pinoy Market NZ are:
1. Bringing the community closer by helping community groups create fundraising opportunities.
2. Allow Filipino businesses promote their products and services.
3. Support members of the community who have dire needs.
4. Create the network and connect the Filipino communities to the wider community in Wellington and eventually the entire NZ
Good opportunity for community fundraisers, business promotions and lots of fun and games or simply clearing your clutters to give room for your new acquisitions.
There is a multi-level approach of fundraising depending on the needs of your organisation but most importantly, involving everyone is the key factor. Here are the anticipated events for the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
1. Inter – Barangay Basketball with the best Muse Competition – this is an annual event and is now confirmed.
2. Pinoy Market Gala – stadium’s open ground with Food Stalls, Crafts, White Elephant, Car Boot Sale, Ukay-Ukay, BBQ or Sausage Sizzles and other Pinoy Games.
3. Pinoy Kids Got Talent “Talentadong Bata” – venue is also pencil booked. See the kids dance, hear the kids sing and watch the kids perform.
In Pinoy Market ,there is facilitator in-charge conceptualizing the idea of the community market and the fundraising drives.
