Mabuhay! The Young Pinoy Artists’ Festival is back for its 2nd year!
This year, we focused on the importance of Philippine literature in helping our kiwinized young ones to understand their heritage and roots. To celebrate Philippine Literature Month (April – Buwan ng Panitikan) and the 5th year anniversary of Pinoy Stop NZ, we are again initiating the “2017 Young Pinoy Artists’ Festival.” This year’s theme is:
“PANITIKANG PILIPINO: Lift a Page and Discover Your Heritage.”
Event information and Design guidelines can be found here.
This year’s event is divided into two parts –
- Creation of Artworks, and
- Art Festival Day (Art Exhibit and Silent Auction)
The creation of artworks will run up to 8th April while the Art Festival Day (Art Exhibit and Silent Auction) will be held on the 22nd of April 2017 (Saturday), 2-5 pm, at the Dowse Art Museum.
Participants will be divided into two age groups – namely, Junior Artists (5-10 years old) and the Senior Artists (11-16 years old). The artworks will then be displayed and auctioned off. 10% of the selling price will go to the artist’s charity of choice (chosen from a list of preferred NZ charity). The rest of the money will be given to the artist.
We are inviting everyone to support and participate in this event by:
– Encouraging and supporting the Filipino youth to create artworks that will further acquaint them to their home country, the Philippines;
– Sharing our beloved Philippine literature to the next generation;
Helping us spread the word to other Filipino families that Pinoy Stop NZ is not able to reach;
– Lending us materials that might be useful during the Art Exhibit Day
